Since Gavin’s last trip to Nashville, the landscape of the music business continues to change in unprecedented ways. In the past two years, like most artists Gavin’s online digital presence has increased dramatically (Google him and have a look). His music is available for purchase at most online music sites including among others CD Baby, Apple iTunes, MusicNet, Napster, MP3tunes, MSN Music, Rhapsody and BuyMusic. And now Gavin’s Nashville recordings are available for purchase as individual songs through digital distribution. Search CD Baby and its many partners for the songs, My Turn Now, That Girl In The Yearbook and Life At The Side Of The Road. One amusing anecdote: Gavin released My Daughter’s Eyes on the 2003 album, Mister Right Now. Many web surfers have listened and purchased this song, most likely because they confused it with Martina McBride’s song, In My Daughter’s Eyes. Some may have thought Gavin had recorded a male version of Martina’s song. The good news is, after hearing his completely different song, word spread and it has been a top seller for Gavin in the digital marketplace. And a final note, and with no disrespect to the magnificent Ms. McBride, Gavin’s song was released first! Even so, as the face of music continues to change at the speed of life, Gavin focuses on the artistry of writing and collaborating: Gavin teamed with long-time Bay Area friend and collaborator, Scott Urquhart on the song, Home For My Heart. Gavin worked with Nashville singer-songwriter, Ronda Armstrong on a song entitled, Miles Between Us. Gavin worked with Canadian singer-songwriter, Damian Follett on a song entitled, Recipe For Disaster For the first time ever, Gavin collaborated with his brother screenwriter and author, Howard Lakin. The songs are entitled, That Girl in the Yearbook and Highway Boots and Stay Home Heels. There is plenty of good news for Gavin’s many fellow musicians, friends and collaborators: Scott Urquhart has developed his publishing company, Access Music into an extremely successful music business.
