Licensing Agreement with the Alzheimer's Association 2007 Special Edition

Gavin first contacted the Alzheimer’s Association in August. From the outset, Gavin’s intention had been to give the song, My Turn Now to the organization.

With the help of the San Rafael regional office’s Deanna Randall, Gavin eventually concluded the agreement at the Northern California office in Mountain View. Associate Director of Special Events, Ericka Smith was instrumental in making the deal happen.

The highlights of the agreement include the Alzheimer’s Association’s non-exclusive right to brand My Turn Now to their national and international promotional, marketing and fundraising media and materials including public service announcements, podcasts/DVDs/CDs of fundraising events, performances of the song as is (the recording) or live at any events, broadcasting the recording or song on television/radio/web-based performances, distribution/duplication of single song CDs and lyrics, giving the single song CD to new and existing members, reciprocal linking of the Alzheimer’s Association and gavinlakin.com, and the organization receiving a percentage of each online sale of My Turn Now.

Gavin is truly appreciative that this song has already touched people and can now support, positively affect, and inspire people on a much larger scale.

Dedicated to those living with, those caring for, those who have lost loved ones to Alzheimer’s, and those working on behalf of or directly towards a cure:

MY TURN NOW
(Gavin Lakin)

At the kitchen table
I must’ve been five years and change
You helped me with my shoelaces
They’d come undone like they do at that age
I was feeling sad ‘bout something
Someone had called me at school
You hugged me and held me and told me
That those same things had happened to you

AND IT’S MY TURN, MY TURN NOW
YOU GOT ME THROUGH THE HARDEST YEARS SOMEHOW
AND NOW I’VE LEARNED LIFE’S COME BACK AROUND
SO IT’S MY TURN, MY TURN NOW

Now I watch you in an easy chair
By the window in the afternoon
With all of your pictures of people
You don’t remember displayed in your room
I give you the news from home
I give you relief from your pain
What I wouldn’t give to hear you
Call me by my name

AND IT’S MY TURN, MY TURN NOW
YOU GOT ME THROUGH THE HARDEST YEARS SOMEHOW
AND NOW I’VE LEARNED LIFE’S COME BACK AROUND
SO IT’S MY TURN, MY TURN NOW

Time and love came easy for you
While my world got in my way

OH IT’S MY TURN, MY TURN NOW
I’LL GET YOU THROUGH THE HARDEST YEARS SOMEHOW
AND NOW I’VE LEARNED LIFE’S COME BACK AROUND
SO IT’S MY TURN, MY TURN NOW

Now I watch you in an easy chair
By the window in the afternoon
